Pirate a copy of version 1.0.4.0. (Or an older version, then upgrade to 1.0.4.0.) Buy it on Steam if you want to feel good about yourself, but don't actually try to play the current edition. The older version of the engine looked nicer, plus it will have all the music which was taken out, and that version has most of the best mods available.
